Description
Academy Sports + Outdoors is one of the nation’s largest sporting goods
retailers, operating over 100 stores across the southeastern United States.
Our stores offer the sports and outdoors enthusiast a broad selection of
equipment, apparel, and footwear at everyday low prices. Our formula of low
prices and a large selection has allowed the company to become a leader in
the sporting goods industry.
We are currently seeking a Creative Manager. This position is based out of
our Corporate offices in Katy, Texas.
Some duties will include:
Provides direction and assistance to brand designers, freelancers, external
agencies and vendors on key creative projects.
In partnership with the Creative Director, establishes maintains and manages
Academy Sports + Outdoors brand assets and core brand identity guidelines.
Creates and develops creative concepts for integrated marketing campaigns,
private label brand initiatives, store design concepts, web based initiatives,
internal communications and core retail seasonal and weekly programs.
Sets rules for consistency with brands.
Oversees plans, organizes and delegates work and manages all aspects of
marketing graphic projects while maintaining efficient workflow to meet
deadlines.
Designs, creates, and manages creative concepts and brand experience while
keeping a consistent and up-to-date look.
Ensures all creative concepts fall within the Academy Sports + Outdoors
brand guidelines.
Develops open communication with all business stakeholders.
Proofs all artwork.
Maintains brand book, brand charts, and FTP passwords.
Manages staff, writes reviews and interviews candidates who are hired as
needed.
Oversees the weekly payroll, and manages the vacation and sick days of staff.
Stays up-to-date on design trends.
Duties may change and associates may be required to perform other duties
as assigned.

Education Required
Bachelor's degree in relevant field of study or equivalent years of related work
experience required. Degree in design field preferred.

Experience Required
Minimum 5 years of in design or graphic arts experience.
Lead and manage a group of art directors and designers to deliver on key
creative projects.

Computer Skills
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Microsoft Office and Mac OSX. Working
knowledge of Quark Xpress, In Design, Acrobat, Word and Excel preferred.
